DURANGO, Colo. (Oct. 28, 2026) – The community is invited to join the fun at Cottonwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center for its annual “Trunk-or-Treat” celebration on Saturday, October 31, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the parking lot of the skilled nursing facility at 450 Prospector Ave., in Durango, Colo. The event will be held rain or shine.
Halloween festivities will feature creatively decorated car trunks where Cottonwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center staff will distribute candy to trick-or-treaters. Visiting guests can also enjoy complimentary hot dogs and chips throughout the event.
Children and their families are invited to participate in the Halloween spirit by dressing in their favorite costumes while enjoying the spooky, family friendly fun. The facility’s staff will also be in costume.
“We enjoy celebrating the fall season with our residents and neighbors each year,” said Jacob Duke, administrator of Cottonwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. “Special events such as this allow us to strengthen community ties while creating lasting memories for our residents and neighbors.”
Everyone is encouraged to bring a bag, pillowcase, or pumpkin basket to collect treats from decorated cars. “This event is always well-received by the community, and our staff enjoys dressing up in their favorite costumes,” said Duke. “This is one of the many events we hold throughout the year to stay connected with our neighbors. From a holiday light display and spring visits with the Easter Bunny to clothing drives, school supply collections, and other community activities, we’re delighted to create opportunities for families to come together and build stronger connections.”
Staff members will gather in the Cottonwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center parking lot with their creatively decorated vehicles, where children can go from car to car, collecting Halloween candy. The skilled nursing facility will provide free hot dogs and chips.
“It’s a fun, safe environment where kids can enjoy trick-treating and celebrate Halloween with their families,” said Duke. “Everyone enjoys showing off their costumes, and we see so many imaginative ideas each year.”
